Thx
firstly to everyone who attended this months game and made it a fantastic day.
This month welcomed 4 new players into the game.
Aaron, Matt and Steve (who I had previously met at Luton) and Matts missus, Sue, came
along for their first taste of Cheesey Poker. This now makes it a total of 99 runners
that have been to the game since it started .
The new Poker League started this month, having been re-set to zero after the play
off earlier in the month (which was won by me in case anyone missed it . )
The sun was shining , there was
beer a plenty , the gazeebo was
up and al-fresco poker was
in full swing by 1.30pm.
A big thanks must go to Curtis, Darren and Neil for helping me put up the gazeebo
the night before. It was touch and go at one point, as not one of us knew what the
hell we were doing and as I hadn't kept the instructions (from last year) on how to
put it together, there were a few worried faces. But the thought of al-fresco poker
was strong and after a few hours hard graft, it was up! .
As well as the new faces, we had the usual regular faces and some players who had
not been for a while made a welcome return. It was great to see people who I hadn't
seen for months.
The usual bad beats were inflicted and taken badly ,
but hey, thats poker .
Trevor was on form and really came out of himself. He was pretty much taking the piss
at EVERY opportunity and having us all in hysterics. I guess the fact this Priscilla
(his daughter) called to say that she and Jeff couldn't make it, made him think he
could be rude to everyone and get away with it
As people got knocked out of the tourneys, they either sat in a cash game, sat around
guzzling beer or dabbled in a game of croquet. It turns out that Jonty actually knows
how to play croquet according to the rules .
So he set about re-arraning my poorly placed hoops and began giving croquet lessons
to those who were remotely interested.
It was suggested the night before by Curtis, whilst we were erecting the gazeebo,
that having croquet mallets to hand was not the best of ideas. Luckily no one felt
the need to beat anyone around the head with said mallets.
I had a great day despite buggering my back in while I was setting up tables on the
morning of the game and not being able to move very well all day. Judging by the smiles
on everyones faces, I'd say we all had a good time, especially those that left with
pockets full of cash.
Also a big sarcastic thankyou to everyone who
left at the end of the night as soon as the two words "washing up" were mentioned .
THANKS GUYS AND GALS!!!
All that said, next month is WSOC time and I cant wait. Drop me an email if you want
your seat reserved.
Cya all next time
