What
another great day of poker. We had the 3 usual League Games and two more 10 games
were thrown in for measure. The gazebo was still up from last months activities so
more outdoor poker was had.
Andrew wins the first game, I (AwesomeAli) win the second game (Omaha) as well as
the third game (which is a league game so was greatly needed). The last game game
was won by The Horse (Tom Gurden) with JK (Jon Kelner) coming second. After the few
stragglers had left for their long drives home, the final 8 of us decided on the usual
mad 10 last game. 10 buy in, 5000 starting chips, 10 min clock and the rule that I
brought in from last months final crazy game: you MUST show your hand if you are still
in the pot at showdown. The person who makes the bet as well as the person who calls,
both have to show their cards even if the last bet is NOT called.
Lovejoy (Kevin OLeary) made an appearance to the game this month for the first time
in ages .
His intent was to come to the second league game and then go to Luton for the 100
game in the evening. Needless to say Kevin was in a rush to leave ours as he was happily
stuffing his face with food from the BBQ. He ran around to collect up his stuff which
was strewn all over the house in one place or another (mostly in the garden under
the gazebo) and managed to leave the house at 8 oclock. Plenty of time to get to Luton
said Andrew. Five minutes later, the phone rings, Kevin says hes on his way back!!!
Hed left Gromit behind (oops )
and just had to have him back. So back he came and stayed for the last game which
gave us 12 in the running for the last league game. Kevin then proceeded to come third
in that game and headed off to luton (again) and still left two things of his behind.
The man is as organised as the most dis-organised person that has ever walked the
planet. Hed lose his head if it wasnt screwed on .
With only 7 runners for the first 2 games, 9 for the third game and 12 for the fourth
game it was a quietish day all in all. Amazingly, even tho I brought enough food for
18 people (had 5 people pull out at the last minute) ALL of the food from the BBQ
still got eaten. Im sure Top Pair (Tim) is on a mission to consume more and more burgers
each time he comes here. I think the record is 6 in one sitting. Thats not counting
the ribs, sausages and chicken that he has too!! .
Also, Dublin Slim (Alan Ryan) hadnt eaten yet this year so he was doing his level
best to catch up .
Thatll teach me to worry about having too much food and it going to waste. I just
feed it to the poker players problem solved.
All in all a great day of poker, and mostly socializing, was had, plenty of banter
and food with lots of cash action on the side. Unfortunately, I didnt take any photos
again this month as I am always too busy running around and playing poker to remember
to do take any. Dont worry tho, the next home game I will take loads!
And finally, a decision was made about the Poker League money and can be found on
site. Emails are going out later on today, so dont just delete them like you normally
do it might be important!!
The next home game is on August 2nd and is the Annual World Series of Cheese. If you
want to participate, please email me to reserve your seat. Again, full details of
this can be found on site.
