Yet
another fantastic day of poker.
We overstretched ourselves this month and decided to allow 22 players into our home.
As it turned out we had 2 no shows so ended up with 20, which was still about 2 too
many. However, more players means more money in the prize pool, so there were no complaints
from any of the players about there being too many in the game (apart from Tim and
Jon who prefer about 14 players coz its easier for them to win) .
I have had a few emails over the course of today and they all said that more players
is better. Roll on the summer time when we can have 4 or 5 tables on the go at once.
We had 3 new players this month. Joel, Jon and Alan. I had chance to talk to Jon and
Joel who said they had a great day and would like to come back again. Alan was one
of the last to leave at about 5.15am and I was like the walking dead at that point
so never go round to asking him how he thought the day went.
We started the day by clearing out the dining room of ALL of its contents. This made
way for the two of our smaller tables. Was a bit of a squeeze but was comfortable
enough to not be unpleasant to play in. The larger of our tables was put in the living
room and the games began.
Andy (h1ghlander) and myself had devised a cunning plan to put a bounty on Martins
(OwlMan) head. Most of the players were told about the bounty but it was kept a secret
from Martin. A pound was collected from every player and the person who knocked Martin
out got the collection of pound coins. Richard (Dickster) was the lucky winner of
the bounty money and punched the air when he knocked Martin out (anyone would have
thought there was over 100 quid in the bounty pot). Martin got up from the table and
was then told he had a bounty on his head and im sure he found it amuzing
For the next game we drew a seat ticket from the pile of tickets and put the bounty
on that persons head. Jon was the next lucky person to have a bounty on his head and
was knocked out by Andrew (L.G.F.), who was so happy to win the bounty money I am
sure the whole neighbourhood heard when he cheared
Having won the 1st and 2nd tournaments, the last bounty was decided to be put on Andrews
(L.G.F.) head. Andy (h1ghlander) knocked him out and was the winner of the last bounty
of the night. The bounty idea was thought up by myself and Andy (h1ghlander) and I
think I will make it a regular occurance at future games
There was a lot of cash action going on at all times, we had some of the biggest pots
on the table to date. I think at one point there were 9 players squeezed around one
of the small tables, all wanting a piece of the action. From what I was told, Andy
(h1ghlander) was the biggest winner in the cash game.
Debbie and I decided to start on the White Russians once we sat down at the final
game. First one I put 3 shots of alcohol in, second one had 4 shots. Needless to say,
within about 30 mins we were both out of our skulls (drinking
them like fizzy pop didnt help).
The whole of our table was in hysterics at one point, watching myself and Debs get
slowly slaughtered. Dave and Debs were in a hand when Dave asks Debs if she had an
Ace in here hand. Debs said no and Dave calls her bet on the river. Debs turns over
AQ declaring a pair of Aces and Dave mucks his hand and is fuming as Debbie rakes
in the chips. I think at one point Martin (OwlMan) almost fell off his chair laughing).
That'll teach Dave to ask stupid questions at the poker table.
Next game is on 22nd February and we are already full (and its not even 24hrs since
the last one finished).
I look forward to seeing most of you there and donating all my chips to you on the
final table.
