3 new faces this month. Dan who has had
numerous invites and eventually managed to get here, Zach who is a player we met at
Luton and Mark who came with Jamie and Richard
Not a good start to the day!! Only 5 people turned up as 2 pulled out on the morning
of the game and 2 were assumed on their way but could not be contacted. So we fire
up the BBQ and start to stuff ourselves. Tim was, as he put it eating like a beast
and consumed a ton of cow all by himself!!
We were about to start the 1st game when we got a call from the lost players saying
they had only just left and it would be 45 mins before they arrived. So, we decided
to have a one table tournament (10 freezeout) while we waited for them to arrive.
I, as the hostess, decided on Omaha as the game and went on to win.
The late-comers arrived and we started the next game. 9 handed so only needed the
1 table. At about 4pm we get a surprise call from Zach who wondered if he could come
along to the game. of course you can!!! says Andrew. The first game goes past its
normal finish time as we had a pre game whilst waiting for players to arrive.
Dave Welch arrives in time for the 2nd game, as does Zach so we managed to scrape
together 11 players for the next game.
There was a fight for who got to sit outside on the patio under the gazebo (smokers
corner) and the only one who wasnt happy was Willie (non smoker) who got stuck with
5 smokers!! Before we knew it the screened in gazebo was full with smoke and Willie
was looking to escape to the other table inside the house. By the time we broke to
the final table it was so cold that we decided to finish off inside. So a quick shuffle
around of furniture and the table was set up inside.
The second game was still in full swing when the remaining players arrived. We were
only expecting 2 players, but they rang to see if they could bring someone of course
you can!!! says Andrew.
We order Pizza, stuff our faces some more and then start on the last game with an
unexpected amount of 14 players. Considering we started with 7 players it wasnt a
bad turn out by the end of the day.
Not surprisingly, ALOT of alcohol was consumed and
some players were in no fit state to play (myself included!). How I managed to come
2nd in the last game is a mystery to me.
The new players fitted in really well and we all had a great time (no, we all had
an absolute scream).
Cash games were played on the side throughout the day as people got knocked out of
the tournaments. Lance and Dave Foot cleaned up at the cash table (so I heard) and
I made a nice tidy profit from the tourneys.
I cant wait for the next one!!!!!!!!
